Many of you all reading this right now have watch at least bits of the show “Tidying Up”. I have to admit, I am not a fan. After I watched it for the first time, I promised myself I would never watch another cleaning show in my life.
I never was one of those people who enjoys keeping things neat and tidy. It has always been a huge thing for me to wake up on a Saturday morning and devote myself to spend the day “tidying up”. Even living in the same room with two neat freaks for most of my life, I still just can’t keep things clean!
You probably wonder why I’m telling you this. Like, “what’s the big deal? If you can live in a messy house than just do it,” or “cleaning isn’t really that hard!” Well, for all of the horrified neat freaks out there, just to let you know, my cleaning journey has begun.
My Goal: in doing this I hope to achieve one thing: order. That is the one thing that my living space does not have. I want to be able to walk into the room, and not see a dresser with 3/5 drawers still in place, clothes all over the floor, and my random stuff in ever corner and spot. I want to be able to see the floor without stuffing everything in a closet.
My Strategy: 1) separate all of my stuff into categories (clothes, shoes, random, art, toiletries, etc.) and then out of those categories decide what I do and don’t want/need 2) then come up with a regular place to put all of the categories, and discard/donate the things I don’t want. 3) when I am using something, make sure to put it back and take the few extra minutes to put it back in the right place.
My Result: after working on this for the past few weeks, I now can see my floor! I hope to keep it this way and I’m sure that my sisters will help 🙂
